The Research and Development lab of the Cleveland Cord Blood Center (Cleveland, OH) is seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral researcher to conduct regenerative medicine research. The mission of the R&D lab is to develop novel cellular based therapies using umbilical cord blood and/or technological findings supported by umbilical cord blood research. Working under the supervision of the R&D lab directors, the candidate will be involved in intellectual property design of new products, design and implementation of preclinical studies, and new product submission to the FDA for IND approval.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Independently design and perform experiments, implement protocols, analyze data, and communicate results effectively.
2. Development of assays to determine product potency, safety, stability, and storage.
3. Write and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and diligent recording of scientific data.
4. Scientific writing for peer-reviewed publications, grant submissions, and regulatory submissions.
5. Perform experiments using standard immunological and molecular methods such as cell purification and culture, qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry, and MLR proliferation.

Required Skills and Experience
1. A Ph.D. in immunology, molecular genetics or other related fields
2. A strong publication record
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
1. Experience with culturing a variety of cell types and cell purification techniques
2. Flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy
3. Previous experience with mouse models of diabetes and/or GVHD
4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with outside organizations
5. Good interpersonal skills

About this organization
The Cleveland Cord Blood Center (ranked 5th in the nation) collects umbilical cord blood as a source of non-controversial stem cells for use in transplants and cord blood research. The organization currently makes a product called Leucord® for hematopoietic reconstitution, and is expanding their product line to include therapies for diabetic wound healing, type I diabetes, and critical limb ischemia/peripheral artery disease. The R&D lab is ideally located on the Cleveland Clinic Campus which enhances existing collaborations with The Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.
