The Earle A. Chiles Research Institute (EACRI) at Providence Cancer Center is seeking a Director of the Immune Monitoring Laboratory to join our dynamic research staff of over 100 team members. The EACRI is a world-class research facility located within Providence Cancer Center in Portland, Ore. The Director of the Immune Monitoring Laboratory (IML) performs an advanced level of scientific work of critical importance to the EACRI. The Director collaborates with Institute scientists, clinical investigators and industry partners to help advance the field of Immuno-oncology and to support and grow the Institute’s excellence in the field. This includes innovation in the development of new assays and the design and implementation of immune monitoring protocols. The IML provides investigators with services and expertise for studies of the immune system in patients with cancer including immunophenotyping, cytokine secretion, ELISpot, NanoString. The Director is responsible for the planning, organization, implementation and design of all projects in the lab, including prioritizing assays, integrating and analyzing data and preparing summaries and reports. The Director will select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the lab. They will implement and ensure good quality control procedures, and clarify and resolve any issues for investigator projects. He/she will also ensure that data is optimally organized, integrated, and accessible to investigators, and that the latest and most appropriate analytic approaches are applied. This individual exercises independent judgment with regard to the research conducted in the lab and has full responsibility for the results and their acceptability by the scientific community. H/She is scientifically and administratively responsible for the activities conducted within the laboratory, including customer interactions, experimental design, data generation & analysis, personnel management, budgeting, instrumentation, procurement, and regulatory compliance functions.
Education, Training & Experience:
Ph.D in the biological sciences or related discipline with proficient knowledge of immunology, genetics and flow cytometry +10 years experience. At least 5 years active involvement with the establishment and administration of core research facilities. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work with advanced analytical tools for large data sets. Flow cytometry expertise and familiarity with computational/bioinformatics techniques are highly desirable.
