Post-doctoral Fellow
University of Colorado Denver, School of Medicine

Two post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Fujita, Professor of Dermatology, to study the role of IL-37 in tumor immunology. Our collaborators have found that IL-37 is a novel inhibitor of innate immunity (Nat Immunol 2010). We then found that IL-37 is a novel inhibitor of adaptive immunity (Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 2014). Our current studies explore IL-37’s roles in dendritic cells, T cells and B cells using animal models and patient samples. The candidate must be experienced in essential immunological and molecular techniques (e.g., antigen-stimulated proliferation, cytokine production, flow cytometry, PCR, arrays, transfection or knockdown/knockout of genes, generation of stable clones and protein analysis) to characterize and profile immune cells and to gauge their function. A candidate with experience in murine models is strongly desired.
A recent Ph.D. degree in immunology or related fields is the minimal requirement for application. Candidates with previous experiences in autoimmunity or adaptive immunity are particularly encouraged to apply. A strong publication record as well as eligibility and desire to apply for future fellowships is required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills in English and organizational skills, the ability to develop creative approaches to experimental design, and be able to thrive both in independent research and while working collaboratively with other fellows and graduate students in the lab.
Applications should include a cover letter, current CV, and the names of 3 references and should be sent to Joanne Domenico at Joanne.domenico@ucdenver.edu.
