Post-doctoral Fellowships in Epigenetics of Immunology
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
San Antonio, TX
We are seeking two outstanding candidates to fill two NIH-funded post-doctoral fellow positions. Applicants must have Ph.D. or M.D. and an excellent academic track record, preferably with research experience in epigenetics, mucosal immunity, vaccines and autoimmunity/tumor immunology. They should also have the ambition and commitment to excel in a highly productive environment.
Our laboratory focuses on how epigenetic marks, including histone modifications and non-coding RNAs, modulate B cell differentiation and antibody responses (http://uthscsa.edu/micro-immunology/faculty/pclab/pcpub.asp). Successful applicants will have unique exposure to the molecular, cellular and systems biology approaches we employ to address epigenetic regulation of antibody somatic hypermutation and class switching, as well as generation and maintenance of memory B cells and plasma cells. They will participate in our translational research aiming to use epigenetic modulators to boost mucosal immune responses, enhance vaccine efficacies and dampen autoimmunity/inflammation. They will also have the opportunity to seek collaboration with investigators in our department and other UT Health Science Center research facilities. These include the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC, an NCI-designated Cancer Center), South Texas Research Facility (STRF), the Greehey Children’s Research Center Institute, the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, in addition to multiple hospitals and clinical facilities.
San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the U.S., with a beautiful historic downtown area that features the Riverwalk with its diverse entertainment and fine restaurants. Residents benefit from a low cost of living, many recreational options in the scenic Texas Hill Country, and an excellent public school system, and proximity to other Texas natural and cultural destinations.
Applicants should send their inquiries and a copy of curriculum vitae or NIH-formatted biosketch, along with three letters of recommendation to Paolo Casali, M.D. (antibody@uthscsa.edu), Zachry Foundation Distinguished Professor and Chairman, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, TX 78229.
All postdoctoral appointments are designated as security sensitive positions.
