Laboratory of Dr. Surojit Sarkar is seeking highly motivated post-doctoral fellows with a PhD or MD degree in an immunology related discipline to join his energetic and productive research group. Sarkar Lab is pursuing fundamental research on the mechanisms underlying T cell immunity to acute and chronic pathogens, and cancer. The research program currently lies at the translational interface of immunology aimed at enhancing efficacy of vaccines and discovery of novel immunotherapies to cancer. Located in the heart of the world-class biomedical research cluster in Seattle, the Sarkar laboratory has existing collaborations and synergies with University of Washington School of Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Benaroya Research Institute and Institute for Systems Biology. Essential requirements: The position requires independent, career-focused and creative minds well versed in the field of T cell immunology in animal models. The applicant must be well trained to immediately take on impactful fundamental and translation immunology projects in the lab. The candidate should have proven excellent oral, writing and organizational skills.
- PhD or MD in Immunology or other closely related field with at least one published first-authored peer-reviewed manuscript from graduate research work.
- New doctoral graduate or post-graduate experience of 0-3 years working on a T cell immunology related project.
- Fundamental expertise in T cell immunology concepts and experimentation.
- Experience working with mouse colony, in vivo murine experimentation and techniques.
- Expertise with core cellular immunology techniques including multi-color flow cytometry, in vitro T cell stimulation assays, and mammalian cell culture.
- Proficiency with molecular techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation, cloning, PCR, quantitative RT-PCR, and retroviral transduction.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with bioinformatics tools for large data set analysis.
- Experience using Seahorse with whole cell metabolism related assays and metabolomics.
- Experience in independently designing and executing experiments.
- Prior grant-writing experience and evidence of procuring any competitive funding (amount not important).
