Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Adoptive T Cell Immunotherapy

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Seattle, WA

A postdoctoral fellow is sought to join the lab of Aude Chapuis within the Program in Immunology in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The post-doctoral research fellow will work on independent and collaborative projects developing adoptive T cell immunotherapy for hematologic and solid tumor malignancies. The successful applicant will employ strategies for cloning T cell receptors and genetic modification of human T cells with TCRs specific for antigens expressed by malignancies. In vitro studies using human T cells and in vivo murine models will be used to develop and test novel T cell therapies. The research fellow will perform correlative studies to evaluate the transfer, persistence and function of antigen-specific T cells in human clinical trials of adoptive T cell immunotherapy. The position will involve molecular work with PCR, cloning, vector design, as well as cell culture, cell sorting, flow cytometry, intercellular staining, transfections, ELISPOT and Chromium Release Assays.

The Program in Immunology is a leader in the development and clinical application of adoptive immunotherapy using genetically modified T cells and is committed to the advancement of this approach. The post-doctoral research fellow may also participate in the laboratory evaluation of ongoing clinical trials involving engineering of peripheral blood stem cell grafts for improved allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation outcomes, and in the development of future immunotherapy strategies.

This is a full-time position with a salary based on the NIH scale and excellent benefits.

To be considered, the successful applicant must have:

  • A PhD and/or MD in biological science
  • Strong research background with robust skills in molecular biology and cellular immunology, including experience in cloning strategies, flow cytomtery, and cell signaling based assays
  • Experience in analysis of T Cell Receptor (TCR) signaling pathways and lentiviral modification of T cells is strongly desired
  • Strong motivation and drive to establish a career as a future independent investigator
