Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cytokine and Regulatory Cell Networks

Position: An opportunity is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Hēth R. Turnquist (http://www.stiresearch.health.pitt.edu/person/heth-r-turnquist) for a motivated individual with a recent PhD and/or MD. This position is part of NIH-funded studies aiming to develop an understanding of the cytokine networks that direct immune responses responsible for both protective and pathological immunity. These findings will be translated into therapies benefiting organ and bone marrow transplant recipients.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right fellow to work closely with an investigator committed to promoting mentee scientific and professional success. Dr. Turnquist is well positioned to support diverse trainee immune-related career goals. He is Graduate Faculty in the Departments of Surgery and Immunology, and also a Faculty Trainer on NIH Institutional T32 Training Grants in: 1) Transplantation, 2) Autoimmunity, and 3) Tumor Immunology.
Environment: The Turnquist laboratory applies cutting-edge research tools, including cellular and molecular examinations in transgenic mouse-based transplant models, advanced imaging of immune cells and clinical biopsies, as well as -omic and bioinformatics approaches. Requirements: Candidates should have experience with animal research, contemporary molecular and immunological techniques, and primary cell culture. Ambitions in Bioinformatics and “Big Data” are a significant plus. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of scientific productivity and commitment to development of an independent research program.
